PSU alumni produce phenomenal podcasts

With the number of podcasts seeking listeners growing by the day, it can be hard to break through the noise. But two Portland State alums make it look easy. Both Sarah Marshall ‘10, MFA ‘12, MA ‘13 and David Naimon ‘19 MFA were named among the 20 best podcasts of 2021 by Variety.

Marshall’s podcast, You’re Wrong About, explores well-known news stories with the help of co-host Michael Hobbes. The journalistic duo examine why these stories are misunderstood by the public. Satanic panic, cancel culture and the story of Amy Fisher are just a few of the subjects listeners can indulge in.

Portland radio personality Naimon hosts Between the Covers, which Variety described as “joining the world’s coolest book club twice a month.” Each episode features a different author and an in-depth discussion about their work, with the potential for insightful revelations almost a guarantee. Popular fiction, poetry, non-fiction and literary works are all on the table with past guests including graphic novelist Joe Sacco, Pulitzer Prize-winner Viet Thanh Nguyen and literary legend Ursula K. Le Guin.

Check out both You’re Wrong About and Between the Covers, available on your favorite podcast app.
